What are you doing over Easter? Hopefully you are relaxing or perhaps going on holiday but if you are at a loose end or fancy some input then there are a couple of things on in London which may interest those into SharePoint or blogging. Firstly the SharePoint opportunity is in the form of the European Best Practices SharePoint Conference. This is being held from the 6th-8th April at the QE II Conference Centre in London. If you are not familiar with the ‘Best Practices’ conference series there have been 2 held in the US over the last year and they have had rave reviews. The great and the good from the SharePoint community will be in town and the agenda looks fantastic.
The bad news is it is £695 per delegate for 3 days although, as we very pleasantly found out when booking up, if you are in education this is reduced to £545. Although this is still a lot of money if you can get this together from a school budget (CPD?) it will be money well spent and much cheaper than flying to the US which you would normally have to do. Given it is on the 6th April you can charge this into next year and if you contact Zoe on 01455 200520 she will send your school an invoice so you don’t even have to pay yourself up front. They were also happy to take payment on 1st April which won our bursar round when I asked for 4 of us to go!
If your loose end is smaller than 3 days, cheaper than £545 or less interested in SharePoint then there may be another option. If you are a regular blog reader but havent yet dipped your toe in the water and are thinking of starting your own blog this may be for you. Our good friend Ray Fleming from Microsoft is running a ‘Blogging over free breakfast’ session on the 15th April. He has significant credentials in this area as a journalist, regular blogger and award winner, having won the Computer Weekly 2008 Public Sector blogger of the year award. Full details are here but do check with Ray directly to see if there are any spaces left or contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you don’t have his email and I will pass on your details. I also hope to be at the blogging session so perhaps I might see you somewhere in London over Easter. If not have a great break.
