In the last of this three part series I look at the power of our SharePoint development for admins. With version 3 of our Online Options site any administrator can edit the complete site including upload of streaming video with complete ease. Check out the video below for a full demo.

GCSE Online Options in SharePoint part 2 of 3

In part 2 of this series I delve into the subject section of the GCSE Online Options site. This area contains all the information students and parents need about individual subjects to make decisions. The video takes you through a slick interface to move between core information to more detail and rich media in the form of video.

GCSE Online Options in SharePoint part 1 of 3

As promised throughout this week I wanted to show a number of videos with new resources and tools which we have been working on at Twynham School. The first is our GCSE Online Options system which we use with students in Year 9 and their parents. A brief overview of the site is shown below.

Later today I will cover the real meat of the site- the subject sections which students review to make their options.

GCSE Online Options System through SharePoint

As I approach the end of my first year blogging this post today is the most excited I have been as I start writing since the ‘Creating a revolution in SharePoint User Adoption’ (this blog post is still read twice as much as any other). The SharePoint Team at Twynham School have been working hard on the development of an Online Options system to support students choosing their GCSEs. We have had two previous versions of our Online Options site- one in php and one in SharePoint. The key development for version 3 is the site is transferable to upload onto any school’s SharePoint whether on site or with a hosting solution. The Online Options system has been one of the three most powerful tools we have used at Twynham and I am really pleased that we are able to make this available for sale to schools.

What excites me more is we have a demo site… which is actually our site! The team have created a login for you to play with our site and see it working in the flesh.

Go to the following link to use the site: Online Options Site

Login details are displayed on the page above.

For those of you who want a blog post about the site and how it was built I will be writing this tomorrow.

SharePoint Conference for education by LP+

Having had a hectic tour of New York schools and the SharePoint 2010 Conference before half term it is nicely back to gritty reality with three days in Coventry this week. Having spent time with BECTA for two days tomorrow I will be speaking at the LP+ Conference taking place at the Marriott Forest of Arden tomorrow. In case you don’t know LP+ is one of the biggest SharePoint hosting solutions for education within the UK. If you are not going to the Conference you can listen in to the sessions through twitter where the likes of @grumbledook and myself will be broadcasting on twitter using the hash tag #lpconf. If you are not using LP+ as a platform but still use SharePoint I encourage you to listen in to the conversation as most of the things discussed tomorrow will be transferable in some way.

In the presentation I will be launching a new build of our Online Options system which will be made available for any schools running SharePoint to buy from tomorrow. More details coming up via twitter and on the blog but if you want a sneak peak take a look below
